One of the best beaches on the Costa del Sol — golden sand, calm clear water and the Ayo paella spot is iconic.

Visitor sentiment summary

Burriana Beach is Nerja's main beach and the #4-ranked attraction in town on TripAdvisor — 4.1 out of 5 stars from 3,080 reviews. Visitors praise the long sandy stretch, clear water and the dense run of restaurants, chiringuitos and rental sunbeds along the promenade. Snorkellers mention plenty of fish and marine life, families call out the calm shallows. Recurring caveats: in 2025 the council started tearing up sections of the promenade, cutting parking and confusing visitors; sun-bed prices have crept up (€12–€15/day in peak season) and beds with parasols are often pre-booked by mid-morning.

Beautiful beach at the bottom of the hill

Michelle0985 · Jun 2025

There are a number of restaurants and little shops in the area to make a day of it if you are not staying close by, plenty of sun-beds on the beach at the usual price €12/€15 per day. However in the high season you may find it difficult getting a bed with a parasol mid to late morning as many visitors and locals pre-pay for their beds.

Heads up — promenade works in progress

jman26 · Oct 2025

Stayed in a lovely apartment overlooking Burriana beach and was surprised they have started to pull up the existing promenade, as the costing is in very good condition. This has vastly reduced the amount of parking at present, and no one seems to know what is happening. Burriana beach is still worth a visit, as the beach is lovely with lots of amenities close by.

Crystal clear water, lots of marine life

jose G · Jun 2025

The beach is very nice. Family atmosphere but also many young people. Crystal clear water. Lots of fish and marine life to see (take snorkelling). On the beach they rent boards and kayaks. There are bathrooms and several places to eat at a good price.

Reasonably priced sunbeds, good size beach

Joepert · Jun 2025

Nice, reasonably large beach in Nerja, downhill! Plenty of sunbeds at €6 each including parasol — service for a drink is also arranged. Basically just pre-war prices here. In Barcelona we paid €40 for 2 beds.
