Brilliant for a long Sunday lunch but get there early — by 14:00 every chiringuito has a queue. Bring cash, some of the smaller ones still don't take cards.

Lovely beach and great food but you can forget about driving in summer. Take bus 11 from the city centre or be prepared to walk 15 minutes from a side street.

If you only have one beach day in the city, skip Malagueta and come here. Local feel, much better food, calm water thanks to the breakwaters. Easy 20 min bus from the centre.
